About Lake Macquarie Field Archers

Lake Macquarie Field Archers Inc. is an archery club associated with the 3D Archery Association of Australia (3DAAA). Please visit www.3daaa.com.au for further information.
3D archery involves shooting targets at varying, unmarked distances in bush terrain. Targets used are life-size models of game animals such as deer, foxes, pigs, turkeys, bear etc.

Regular shoots
Shoots are held roughly every 2 weeks throughout the year from February through to November from 8:30am – 3:00pm.
Shooting format is 2 rounds of 15 targets, with 1 shot at each target.
BBQ lunch and drinks are available for purchase.

During daylight saving, we also run a casual Thursday night competition. Gates open at 4:00pm. Shoot runs from 5:00-7:30pm.

Membership of LMFA
Joining the Lake Macquarie Field Archers club entitles you to access the club practice range at any time, participate in competition, join interclub and away shoots and gain access to help and advice.
There is no compulsion to compete, though most folk find they improve by competing, even if it is against themselves.
Cost to join LMFA is $30 for adults (18+), $20 for Juniors (13-17) and $15 for cubs (12 and under) or $85 for a family (2 adults + juniors and cubs).

Newcomers to our club and to 3D archery are welcome to come along for up to 3 club shoots prior to joining, to give them a chance to decide whether the sport is for them.
Cost per regular club target shoot is $15 for adults, $10 for juniors and free for cubs.
We have a small number of compound and recurve bows available for hire at $10 per day.
We have a practice range which is available for practice shooting at no cost to current and prospective members.

Members are able to obtain a gate key to the club grounds after a probationary period of 3 months, or attendance at 3 scheduled club shoots. Cost for a key is $40 (with $20 refundable deposit on surrender of key).

Membership of 3DAAA
For insurance purposes, all shooters at our club (after their introductory 3 free shoots), whether members of our club or not, must be members of our national body: the 3D Archery Association of Australia (3DAAA)
Cost for 3DAAA membership is $40 for adults, $30 for Juniors and Cubs, or $85 for a family. You can join 3DAAA online via their website at www.3daaa.com.au

Kids and Archery
Our club welcomes families to participate, and we have a number of children of various ages who join in our regular club shoots. Archery is a great sport for children, and they can start from as young as 6 under the right guidance.
LMFA are not set up to run structured kids programs or lessons as such. Children need to be accompanied on the range by a responsible adult. We do find that many parents choose to take up archery and participate along with their young ones, and it can provide a wonderful way to share active outdoor time together.
